I have the honor to forward to you Copy of the Proceedings of a Committee held this day at the Madras Club, and to solicit your aid in obtaining Subscriptions at your station in furtherance of the object in view.

It Was Resolved.

First - That it is desirable that Subscriptions should be invited in aid of the destitute Sufferers, European and Native, from the recent events in Affghanistan, or those who receive no adequate provision from the Government.

Second. - That Messrs Arbuthnot & Co., Binny & Co., and Parry & Co. be requested to receive Subscriptions. 

Third. - That a Select Committee be appointed to correspond with the Kurnaul Committee. 

Fourth. - That Sir Robert Dick be requested to accept the office of Chairman of such Committee, and that Mr. James Scott, Captain Biden, Colonel Watkins, the Venerable the Archdeacon, the Reverend Mr. Bowie and Mr. Dent be requested to act as Members of such Committee. 

Fifth. - That the Select Committee be authorized to remit from time to time the Amount of Subscriptions as collected to the Kurnaul Committee, to be placed at their disposal, for the above objects, and to be appropriated at their discretion. 

Sixth. - That the Select Committee be authorized to open a Communication with the Right Rev. the Lord Bishop, the Venerable the Archdeacon, and the Clergy, with a view to amalgamate the Subscriptions which have been, or may be received on the above account into one General Fund.

Seventh. - That the thanks of this Meeting be unanimously  given to the Chairman for his able and disinterested conduct in the Chair.

Ladies and Gentlemen who are desirous of Subscribing to the Affgan Relief Rund, are requested to insert the Amount of Subscription opposite their respective names. 

Lieut. Colonel Hutchison will be happy if agreeable to all concerned, to receive the subscriptions - to be forwarded at the earliest opportunity to the President Sir R. Dick. 

Since writing the above we have been favoured with the Circular issued by the Hon'ble Governor, on Tuesday last, intimating that he had no doubt the community would be anxious to contribute to the Fund now raising in India for the relief of the sufferers at Affghanistan, and that he would be happy to receive subscriptions. The suggestion of the Governor was nobly responded to, and in less than four hours the subscriptions amoundted to Drs 1,125, as will be seen by the following list.

We are requested to intimate to the subscribers to the Affgan Relief Fund that the sum of Soy's Rs 4,516 has been duly remitted by the Government here to Calcutta, and that the Accountant General of Bengal has supplied a draft on the Kurnaul Collectorate in favour of the Committee of the Cabool Relief Fund.
